POETRY
& MEMOIR ONE-TO-ONE
Molly
Peacock is one of the pioneers of private one-to-one instruction
in poetry and creative nonfiction, working one-to-one with poets
and writers throughout North America and Europe since 1986.
Over
thirty of her students have published over thirty books with literary
and trade presses in the U.S. and Canada. Many have gone on to M.F.A.
and PhD. programs - or come to her after finishing such programs.
They are publishing in distinguished literary journals, and have
become editors, publishers, and professors of creative writing.
Using
a musical model of study with a maestra, she concentrates on structure
and intention in her students' work. "It's not poetry therapy,"
she says. "How I work bears an appalling similarity to the
way a dentist operates: people come for prosodic check-ups, metaphoric
emergencies, braces for the imagination; syntax implants, line fillings,
and stanza surgery."
She
assesses whether she can take new students in January and June of
each year. Usually she keeps a substantial waiting list. E-mail
Molly for more information.
